Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
FITA offers Recognition of Prior Learning assessments to installers who have experience, but no qualification.
Assessments are done at a FITA endorsed assessment centre and run for one full day. Half of the day is spent demonstrating practical skills and the other half is used for testing an installer’s knowledge.
We recognise that not all installers are literate or proficient in English so RPL assessments can be done verbally and in vernacular. After completing an RPL assessment, an installer will be awarded with a Certificate of Achievement by Construction, Education and Training Authority (CETA). With this qualification, an installer can apply for a title. Read here for more information.
If you would like to apply for an RPL assessment, send an email to email@example.com to request the forms. An RPL assessment normally costs R 4750.00 per person but for a limited time, installers of companies registered with us can do a RPL for free.
It is important to understand that an installer who successfully completes the assessment will only be awarded the Certificate of Achievement if they bring this with them to the assessment:
- Certified copy of their ID
- Recent Passport size photo
- Proof or residential address OR an affidavit confirming a home address
